Inviting the private sector to co-design a sustainable PES mechanism: a workshop with Raya Heritage, Kao Mai Lanna and Hillkoff

In December B.E. 2568, the Forest Guardians Project held a workshop with private-sector organisations working on environmental issues and businesses affected by PM2.5 haze, particularly those in the hotel and tourism sectors. The workshop discussed the private sector’s needs and expectations regarding the PES mechanism and gathered ideas on forms of collaboration that could help make the mechanism sustainable in the long term, including resources, public communications and incentives for communities.
The organisations that took part in the workshop included Raya Heritage, Kao Mai Lanna Resort, the coffee business Hillkoff and the business arm of Chiang Mai Breath Council. This was one step towards broadening and strengthening the base of supporters for the PES mechanism, alongside fundraising through the Taejai.com platform under the name Forest Guardians. The campaign has raised 100% of its target for 25 communities this year.
