Of Thailand’s more than 14 million older people, as many as 80% are considered “active older people”: they have the potential to participate fully in social activities. In reality, however, they are cut off from society because they lack access and opportunities. Loneliness and social isolation have severe effects on the physical and mental health of this group of older people.

YoungHappy joined BC4C in cohort 9 (B.E. 2562), aiming to slow older people’s decline through a range of social activities. These include courses to prepare for retirement, workshops on health and using social media, leisure activities such as travel and watching films, and building a community where older people can meet old and new friends. These activities give them tools to manage their lives after retirement and continue living actively.

YoungHappy now has more than 50,000 older members, with 10% using the service regularly each month. In B.E. 2565, YoungHappy also went on to join BC4C’s growth acceleration programme, with revenue increasing from 6 million baht (B.E. 2566) to 12 million baht (B.E. 2568) through the development of new products and business models.
