Planning for year 2: expanding from 15 to 30 communities, focusing on unresolved issues from the first year
Drawing on lessons from the first year, the Project plans to expand to 15 new communities in the same four provinces, while establishing a joint working group with the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources and the Department of Fisheries to reduce systemic delays.
Showcase, funding award ceremony and announcement of scale-up funding results
The event was held at Ch. Karnchang Public Company Limited. A total of 43 people from 8 partner organisations attended. Plaques and certificates were presented to 10 teams, and 3 teams were announced as recipients of scale-up funding.
Child Impact completes Health Talk activity support system, linking member database to reduce duplicate data entry
ChangeFusion and San Phalang Di have completed the system on the Child Impact website for registering for Health Talk activities, taking post-activity tests and issuing certificates. The system retrieves information from the member database to reduce duplicate data entry and lets both participants and administrators track information directly through the system.
Individual database system in Child Impact completed as planned, supporting Bureau 4’s annual planning
Child Impact developed a database of individuals participating in Bureau 4 partner projects, with more than 3,000 records. The work included cleaning the data, displaying it on a map, and creating and editing records. It was completed on schedule for use in Bureau 4’s annual work planning, and a fundraising approach through the Taejai website was also proposed to support the project’s sustainability.
Child Impact discusses adding “families” as a target group and setting up a Subdistrict-level mapping system with Khropkhrua Yim and Bureau 4
The Child Impact team met with Bureau 4 and the Khropkhrua Yim Project to plan how to bring child assessment data from the project’s expansion to 200 Subdistricts into the system, while adjusting the calculation formula to match the bureau’s evaluation team.
Early childhood partners join forces to use followkids to connect child data to Child Impact
Bureau 4 and early childhood partners (S.K.S., ESTA, SOPA and Suan [Toemtem]) met to plan a mechanism for connecting early childhood development data to Child Impact. They agreed to use followkids as the main tool for collecting DSPM data. Data on more than 9,268 children from followkids is now visible on the dashboard.
Expanding to 42 communities in 6 provinces: Developing PES plans with 6 mentor organisations across the North
In B.E. 2569, the Project expanded from Chiang Mai alone to 6 northern provinces, developing PES plans with 42 communities through 6 mentor organisations before selecting 25 communities to receive actual budget support.
Announcement of the 10 Best Grassroots Innovations, Year 5
Selected from 28 entries that underwent field visits, the 10 finalist teams will receive initial funding and enter the incubation process.
Launching the community economy pillar: TSWA and ChangeFusion provide seed funding to 7 communities to develop resource-based businesses
After establishing the LMMA system in the first year, TSWA and ChangeFusion jointly conducted a process to listen to communities’ needs before providing seed funding of around 100,000 baht per area in 7 of the 15 pilot communities.
Year one closes with 6 MOUs covering 58 agencies across all 4 provinces
The project closed its first year by signing 6 memoranda of understanding (MOUs) with government agencies in 4 provinces, piloting 3 different collaboration models tailored to local contexts.
Shortlisted 28 entries and conducted site visits nationwide
From more than 157 applicants, the committee used 5 criteria (5 points each) to shortlist 28 entries before conducting in-person site visits from 2-18 September B.E. 2568.
Huai Ikhang: a “women’s forest” of 60 rai and a community food bank
The Paka Koenyo women’s group in Mae Wang District decided to organise the collection of forest products to reduce losses from fires, alongside a land stewardship fee of 2 baht per rai.
Redesigning the growth accelerator: from business plans to hands-on mentoring
In B.E. 2568, the growth accelerator changed its approach from developing business plans to pairing ventures with expert mentors who work directly on their specific bottlenecks.

Launch of the Sea Guardians project: TSWA and ChangeFusion join forces to protect Thailand’s seas
The Thai Sea Watch Association (TSWA) and ChangeFusion have jointly established a 3-year project to support 45 small-scale fishing communities in managing the sea themselves through the LMMA model
Launch of the Acceleration Program to address the missing middle funding gap
After completing a decade of incubation programmes, BC4C launched the Acceleration Program in B.E. 2565 to support alumni that had grown beyond the start-up stage.
Seed funding increased to 80,000 baht and second-round funding to 250,000 baht
When the project resumed after COVID-19, funding for both rounds was increased from the original structure used since B.E. 2554.
The year the project paused: BC4C and the COVID-19 situation
B.E. 2563 was the only year in the project’s 14-year history when incubation activities had to stop due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Ma:D becomes a project co-coordinator, laying the foundations for the BC4C alumni community
In B.E. 2558, Ma:D took on the role of project co-coordinator alongside ChangeFusion and became a key driving force in bringing alumni together as a community.
